STEP 01

Take the online health quiz

You answer questions about your medical history, current medications, current symptoms, and goals for treatment. It takes a few minutes.

Have these ready

Be complete and honest. Your answers are what your provider uses to spot health risks and decide whether a treatment is safe for you.

STEP 02

A licensed healthcare provider reviews your information

A U.S.-licensed healthcare provider in your state reviews your quiz in a same-day consultation. Before prescribing medication, they look at your medical history, current medications, and any conditions that could make a treatment unsafe. If they have additional questions, they reach out to you directly.

STEP 03

If treatment is appropriate, your provider writes a prescription

Your provider determines whether a treatment fits your needs and, if it does, prescribes the specific medication and dose. Your prescription goes directly to a partner pharmacy, so there’s nothing to pick up or drop off. You see clear pricing before you commit to anything.

STEP 04

A state-licensed pharmacy fills your prescription

Provn isn’t a pharmacy. Your prescription is filled by a state-licensed partner pharmacy. Compounded medications are prepared by a state-licensed compounding pharmacy for you individually.

STEP 05

Free home delivery of your treatment

Expedited shipping is free on every plan. Most patients receive their medication within 3 to 5 business days of being prescribed, in plain, temperature-controlled packaging. Availability can vary depending on your state, because some treatments aren’t available everywhere due to pharmacy licensing.

STEP 06

Follow-up care and support

You keep access to your care team after your treatment arrives. Contact them with questions, side effects, or changes in your health. As part of your follow-up care, your provider can adjust your dose or switch your treatment based on how you’re responding.

STEP 07

Refills, renewals, and changes

Refills are part of your plan. Your plan renews each billing cycle, and you can cancel from your account dashboard or by contacting support. To avoid the next charge, cancel before your next renewal date.

What happens if a treatment isn't right for you

Not everyone qualifies for every treatment. Your health history, current medications, pregnancy, or other conditions can make a medication unsafe, and some treatments aren’t available in every state. If your provider decides a treatment isn’t appropriate, they’ll tell you why and may discuss other treatment options that fit better.

Needs a physical exam?

If your symptoms are urgent or need a physical exam, your provider may recommend an in-person evaluation instead.

Who prescribes your treatment: physicians and nurse practitioners

Provn connects you with licensed physicians (MDs and DOs) and nurse practitioners from physician-led medical groups. Provn is the platform that connects you with them. The prescribing decision is always your provider’s.

Matched to your state

You’re matched with a provider licensed in your state, practicing telemedicine in line with your state’s laws.

Online prescriptions vs. an in-person doctor visit

Virtual care works well for ongoing treatment that a provider can evaluate from your health information. An in-person visit is still the right call when you need a physical exam, lab work, or urgent care.

What can't be prescribed virtually through Provn

Provn focuses on four treatment areas. It doesn’t offer controlled substances, such as ADHD stimulants or anti-anxiety benzodiazepines, and it doesn’t prescribe everyday primary care medications like antibiotics or birth control. Provn also doesn’t treat urgent or acute conditions. For those, see your primary care provider or visit a doctor’s office in person.

How to tell if telehealth providers are legitimate

Whether you choose Provn or another service for medications online, check for these before you share your information. The FDA’s guide to buying medicine safely online covers the pharmacy side in more detail.

Independent verification

Provn is LegitScript certified, which you can verify on LegitScript’s site.

A real medical evaluation

Legitimate online prescribing starts with a licensed provider reviewing your history before anything is prescribed. A site that promises a prescription with no consultation is a red flag.

Licensed providers and pharmacies

Prescribers should be licensed in your state. Pharmacies should be licensed by a state board of pharmacy, list a U.S. address and phone number, and have a licensed pharmacist you can reach.

Clear pricing

You should see what you’ll pay before you commit.

Privacy protections

Your health information should be handled in line with HIPAA.

The FDA also flags warning signs once an order arrives: medication that’s damaged, labeled in a foreign language, or missing an expiration date, and prices that look too low to be real.

About compounded medications

Some Provn treatments are compounded, meaning a state-licensed pharmacy prepares them for an individual patient. Compounded medications are legal to prescribe, but they aren’t FDA-approved drugs, and the FDA doesn’t review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality. Your provider will explain whether a compounded medication is right for you and how it differs from FDA-approved options.
